A. Account & Authentication Information

When you sign in using:

  • Google Sign-In
  • Apple Sign-In

We may receive:

  • Email address
  • Profile picture (if provided)

This is used only to create and manage your account.

B. User-Provided Health & Nutrition Data

We collect data you voluntarily enter, including:

  • Food logs
  • Calorie intake
  • Macronutrient data
  • Exercise entries
  • Weight and body measurements
  • Fitness goals

This data is used only to provide tracking and insights.

C. Health & Fitness Integration (iOS – Apple Health)

If you enable Apple Health, we may read:

  • Steps
  • Active energy burned
  • Workouts

Health data is accessed only with your permission and is never used for advertising or sold.

D. AI Food Image Processing

CalTally uses Google Gemini API (Google AI) to analyze food images.

When you take or upload a food photo:

  • The food image only is securely transmitted to Google Gemini API for calorie and nutrition estimation.
  • We do not collect or send food descriptions.
  • We do not send your name, email, profile information, health logs, or account identifiers.
  • The image is used solely to generate nutritional analysis results.
  • Data is transmitted only after you actively capture or select a food image and request analysis, which constitutes your consent.
  • Google processes this data under its applicable data protection and security standards. We do not use AI-submitted images for advertising and do not sell this data.

E. Usage & Analytics Data

We may collect anonymized analytics data such as:

  • Crash reports

This data does not personally identify you.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use data to:

  • Manage your account
  • Sync data across devices
  • Calculate nutrition goals
  • Estimate BMI and BMR
  • Provide AI-based calorie analysis
  • Improve app performance
  • Respond to support requests

We do not sell your personal data.

3. Subscriptions & Payments

Payments are processed by:

  • Apple App Store
  • Google Play Store

We do not store payment card details.

Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled in your account settings.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We use trusted providers including:

Google Firebase

  • Firebase Authentication
  • Cloud Firestore
  • Firebase Analytics

Google Gemini API

  • AI-based food image analysis

These providers process data on our behalf and are required to protect it.

We do not share personally identifiable health data with AI services.

We retain data while your account is active.

You may delete your account from app settings or by contacting us.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security through secure cloud infrastructure.

No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

7. Children’s Privacy

CalTally is not intended for children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed on secure servers operated by our service providers in various jurisdictions.
